Erin Steer is a passionate and driven intelligence professional who has been supporting disaster preparedness, and recovery across Queensland for over four years. Starting her career in incident management before moving into intelligence, Erin has rapidly built a reputation for her sharp attention to detail, adaptability, and ability to see the bigger picture.
As a Senior Intelligence Officer with the Queensland Fire Department, Erin has been operationally deployed to support severe weather and bushfire events, such as Tropical Cyclone Jasper and southwest Queensland bushfires, and has contributed to responses for disasters such as Tropical Cyclone Alfred, the Canadian wildfires, Enga Province landslide, and Port Vila earthquake. From analysing emerging risks to providing actionable insights, Erin’s work aids decision-makers in remaining ahead of the curve.
Erin holds a Master’s degree in Security and Strategic Studies, as well as undergraduate qualifications in Criminology and Psychological Science. Erin’s passion lies in harnessing open-source intelligence and historical data to strengthen Queensland’s resilience to future disasters. When she’s not working, Erin continues her commitment to community resilience as a volunteer within the Queensland State Emergency Service.
