Sam MacDonald is a career industry professional having worked across Defence, Federal Government and private sectors over 25 years as both a practitioner and leader in National Security, Defence, Protective Security and Financial intelligence domains. This includes operations, investigations, analysis, governance, training and capability development, and leading international delegations or collaborating with domestic and international partners on next generation analytical systems.
Moving to private industry in 2021, Sam is now a Director in Coras, a Defence and National Security Consultancy company. Here he leads a team of industry experts to work with both public and private sector clients to reduce the barriers to understanding & implementing security as a system, connecting and integrating policies and practices in context to achieve integrated effects.
Together with likeminded business and subject matter experts, Sam collaborates to deliver outcomes that go beyond a cookie cutter approach, to Think New™, helping organisations get ahead of the current and future challenges.
Examples of this include as a program designer for the National Security College (NSC) on National Security Risk Management and Critical Infrastructure; organisational reviews on intelligence capability and protective security postures; delivering security infrastructure uplifts; and writing ministerial research papers across data and space domains.
