Neil Paterson is a strategic and accomplished executive leader with over three decades of experience spanning policing, national security, intelligence, governance, and community safety. He rose through the ranks of Victoria Police from Constable to Deputy Commissioner, culminating in periods as both Deputy Commissioner – Regional Operations (leading 13,500+ staff and a $2.2B budget) and Acting Chief Commissioner (leading 22,000+ staff and a $4.6B budget). His career highlights include delivering Victoria's Keeping You Safe 2023–2028 strategic plan, leading the organisation's response to the Yoorrook Justice Commission, and driving innovative reforms in intelligence, youth diversion, and mental health support for frontline staff.
A committed advocate for diversity and psychological safety, Neil has served as Executive Champion for Aboriginal, Pride, and CALD employee networks, and was recognised as a Deloitte Top 50 LGBTIQ+ Leader. He holds a Juris Doctor, a Graduate Diploma in Disaster Management, a Graduate Certificate in Applied Management and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Since September 2025, Neil has led Resolvium Pty Ltd, a boutique consultancy focused on governance, leadership, crisis management, and culture.
