Jonno Newman is Head of Deployment Strategy, APAC, at TRM Labs, the world's leading blockchain intelligence platform, used by over 300 law enforcement agencies and financial institutions globally.
Jonno brings a rare combination of hands-on law enforcement experience and private sector crypto expertise. He spent 13 years as a detective with South Australia Police, where he ultimately led the Cybercrime Training and Prevention unit, building the capability of Australian investigators to tackle digital crime. He subsequently joined Kraken's Financial Intelligence Unit as a senior investigator and trainer, working on crypto-related financial crime cases before joining TRM Labs.
At TRM, Jonno leads deployment strategy across APAC, working with law enforcement agencies and financial institutions to operationalise blockchain intelligence. He played a leading role in TRM's investigation of the $100 million Atomic Wallet hack, one of the largest crypto thefts of 2023, attributed to North Korea's Lazarus Group. Based in Adelaide, Jonno brings an Australian practitioner's perspective to a region-wide mandate: ensuring that as crypto crime evolves, the investigators pursuing it are equipped to keep pace.
